BRAVA "Passion For My Art" Scholarship
BRAVA, The Siena Arts Alliance, offers a $500.00 scholarship every year. The scholarship is limited to rising 10th and 11th graders already enrolled at St. Agnes who have a passion for one or more of the Fine Arts. The judges do not require or expect the applicant to be the one in the spotlight for drama, music, or visual arts. Other creative interests such as dance, technical theater, set design, film making or photography are also appropriate for this scholarship application. This scholarship emphasizes a passion for Fine Arts and how this passion can be utilized and developed in St. Agnes programs. This does not mean that, in the required essay, the applicant should just list what she has done previously; instead, the applicant should reveal what her intentions are for actively pursuing Fine Arts at St. Agnes in the future.
REQUIREMENT
1. The applicant must write an essay of no more than 500 words that describes the student's art and her passion for the arts. She must include how she envisions her artistic pursuits will benefit St. Agnes programs.
2. The essay must be typed and double-spaced, using Times New Roman 12-point font.
3. Each candidate must include her name and grade on a cover page attached to her essay. Her name must not appear anywhere on the essay itself.
4. The standard St. Agnes Academy scholarship application must accompany the essay. The Scholarship Application can be found at saa-sds.org: click on the Academics, then Upper School; scroll to downloadable forms. The Scholarship Application is near the bottom of the list.
ESSAYS ARE DUE IN THE UPPER SCHOOL COUNSELING CENTER IN MID APRIL.
The BRAVA Board of Directors reads all essays anonymously and determines the winner. Should an applicant be related to a BRAVA Board Member, that Board Member will excuse herself from the process. The Scholarship recipient is announced at the 9th - 11th Grade Awards Day in mid-May of each year. Any questions regarding this Scholarship or its requirements may be directed to the Upper School Counseling Center or to a BRAVA Board Member.
